When I was in elementary school, if there was a classmate from a "broken home" he was the odd-man out.   Divorce in our little town was a rarity.  Most of us came from good, solid two-parent homes.  But, as Bob Dylan said, "The times, they are a changin'!"
Today divorce is rampant.  A study released a few years back said that by the time a child reaches fifth grade, only 12% of children are living with both of their birth parents.   Many kids today live in single-parent homes.   That is tough enough.   What makes the situation worse is that these single parents often have to work more than one job.  They are seldom home.  The result is loneliness for the child.
Of course, loneliness isn't limited to children from broken homes.  Lots of people are lonely--for a variety of reasons.
God is not a big fan of loneliness.  When He created Adam and placed him in the garden paradise He said, "It is not good for man to be alone."  Loneliness was not good back then and it is not good now.
God uses the Church for many things.  He uses it, in part, to eradicate loneliness.   A Christian becomes a part of the Church when he comes to Christ in faith and obedience.  Jesus Himself puts the individual into the Church.  At that moment the Christian becomes a vital, functioning, needed part of the Body of Christ; no more important than anyone else, but no less important either!  Understand this: being part of the Body means more than just sitting in a pew.  It means actively taking part in the work of the Kingdom.  When that happens, a person finds that loneliness is out the window.  Life has meaning.  Life has purpose.  And you have friends!   Better than that: you have FAMILY.   It is an Old Testament Scripture, but I like what it says in Psalm 68:6
6 God sets the lonely in families, [a]
he leads forth the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

Why don't YOU become part of God's Family today?

See you soon!
